Gunpowder Irish Gin is distilled at the edge of lake in a little tin shed by PJ Rigney, intrepid distiller extrodinaire. This takes place in a small Irish town called Drumshanbo which is located in County Leitrim. He had the marvelous idea to combine traditional Irish botanicals with oriental ones using a medieval copper pot still. In the copper still he distills eight botanicals; juniper, angelica, orris root, caraway seed, coriander, meadow sweet cardamom and star anise. Next, and this is the magic part, he vapor infuses four botanicals from the Orient which are oriental lemon and lime, grapefruit and gunpowder tea. This boundary pushing combination works exceedingly well and has elevated Gunpowder Irish Gin to one of our best selling juniper based goodies.
