This is a great value white from the Languedoc matching two slightly more unusual grapes together but it works really well. Crisp and refreshing the Verminto adds white flowers and pear with a little spice, whist the Colombard gives green apple freshness and balancing acidity. A match made in heaven!

“At £6.99 per bottle, Les Vignerons Vermentino Colombard, is a tasty white, actually pale yellow, a colour I think that often denotes a better bottle, a blend of those two grapes, Vermentino and Colombard, neither of them plentiful at the bottom end of the market. This is a wine that could stand with more pricey whites with prices in double figures. I was introduced to this in a local hostelry and I was thankful that I was but they charged £17 per bottle. Even so, as a served table wine, it was worth it compared to the often very ordinary wines offered in pubs and restaurants. It has a balanced acidity, with overtones of apple and pear, a lovely wine I shall look out for in other restaurants.”
