Some say this is a sweet rum, but it really is not as sweet as they say. It is layered with notes of slightly smoky and roasted coconut, vanilla pod, grapefruit and spices. The palate is also layered with a journey of tropical fruit, cherry chocolate, some tannins and an almond like finish before the PX Sherry comes through. Balanced and complex.Hard to imagine a smoother aged rum 98/100 (beverage Tasting Institute, Chicago, USA). Its a sweet rum. Sweetness is typical of Guatemalan rums.

We discovered this in the Canary islands a few years ago. As smooth as butter, almost like a good brandy but with the sweetness of sugar cane honey and so many 'notes', it's almost a symphony in a bottle. Easy to overdo it because it is just so more'ish and enjoyable to quaff......

We discovered this Rum whilst on holiday in Play De Las Americas a few years ago (it was a courtesy drink at the wonderful Monkey Bar). One shot was enough to confirm that this is one of the best straight drinks we'd ever encountered. It has a warm, rounded and slightly sweet taste to it. It makes a great mixer too, although it's a shame to mask the flavour - this one is best served all on its own. Works over ice but we prefer to sip it in a warmed glass, rather like you would a fine brandy. Not cheap but the best things in life never are!
