“The leads are 10m long, have strong retract springs and more importantly a good locking device. To immediately restrict the dog you simply hold the big button with your thumb. When required at this stage if for example walking down a busy road simply push your thumb forward onto the second smaller button to perminantly lock the lead and use as a conventional lead. We keep ours on 3 to 4 ft max when on a main road. All locking mechanisms are reliable. Well worth paying the extra to keep your pooches safe while out walking. After buying one we then went a bought a 2nd. Don't be fooled by the cheaper leads out there. Your dogs life matters.

I needn't have worried. The retractable lead/tape is a very good sturdily responsive bit of engineering and the carrier is pleasingly heavy but comfortable and easy to carry.
