The R-500 rowing machine has been designed with the serious user in mind. Featuring a dual air/magnetic resistance system the R-500 blends these different resistance methods to produce the best of both worlds. The air resistance element guarantees a true rowing feel; the harder you pull, the more resistance it delivers while the magnetic aspect means the R-500 delivers a greater challenge than that available from traditional air rowers, with the additional benefit of preset programmes that can alter the resistance automatically throughout your workout. I had to save to buy this rowing machine so it’s an expensive purchase for me (made a bit easier by a voucher found to get it for under £700) and one that I was a bit nervous about. I had become used to the Concept2 machines in the gym which everyone raves about and which are, of course, about as good as rowing machines get! This isn’t a cheap rowing machine and I was nervous ordering it having not physically tried it. I needn’t have worried. The build quality is excellent and I find it just as good to use as the machines in the gym. It’s been a couple of months now and I’m absolutely loving it. While it might not be a Concept2, in my opinion it gives one a proper run for its money. Certainly the two are closer to each other in reality than they are in price. Considering what I paid and what I got for my money I absolutely love this machine and would recommend without hesitation it to anyone thinking of buying a high performance rowing machine.
