“The control dial is extremely difficult to use, so much so that I am considering using a spill to light the fire from now on. The dial is on a long vertical spindle which is not rigid. When you press the dial down it moves away from the axis and can become jammed under the surround. This dial also becomes extremely hot when the fire is in use (as does the top of the fire in general), and there is a risk of burning your fingers when you turn the fire off.
The whole unit seems flimsy, and I now regret replacing the 4-=year ols model which it replaced.”
