“I received a fireplace which was in pieces and needed to be assembled but nothing supplied to use in putting it together. Delivery was chaotic, after receiving a phone call from Direct fireplaces to let me know my fireplace was on the way to NI and I would get a phone call to organise a delivery date with the courier. A few days later I received a call from the courier letting me know they would be arriving at my door in fifteen minutes. I did not have time to organise anywhere indoors in which to store the fireplace, it was delivered and placed outside on a day which the rain didn’t stop. This rain continued for days and there was a pool of rain gathered on top. I was unsure if my new fireplace would get damaged while I searched for someone to unpack and install. I had been informed there were places I could contact to arrange fitting of my fireplace, after delivery I was then told there were no agents in NI. On 15th December I was finally able to get it unpacked and moved to my living room. I then had to find someone to put it together and install. Finally I did find someone who would supply any necessary adhesives and brackets needed but it would not be done until 8th January. Christmas was spent with an unsightly fireplace in pieces sitting in my living room. The whole process was filled with anxiety and wrong answers given when I asked questions. I am happy with my new fireplace at last. :)”

We can see that this was ordered via our website for delivery to your address in Northern Ireland. Had we been contacted prior to receipt of your order to query how this fireplace is usually received, what is supplied with the fireplace or availability of recommended installers, our Sales team would have been able to advise before you made a purchasing decision. Limestone fireplaces are typically very heavy when fully assembled and are therefore transported in pieces to help avoid damage in transit. This is generally understood throughout the industry and is not something unique to the Rydal fireplace that you purchased. This is not to excuse the courier regarding the delivery; as a general rule, we would naturally expect more than 15 minutes from notification of a delivery time slot to the delivery itself, and can only apologise on behalf of our delivery partner for any inconvenience.
