“This is oak effect, veneer on MDF. On removing the bubble wrap after delivery, it was evident condensation had penetrated the surround, surfaces were wet and the veneer had lifted on the edges of the mantle, I used pva glue to stick down the veneer and wood filler to hide the exposed mdf. Could not face the hassle of sending it back. Looks good in my lounge.
In hindsight I would have paid extra and gone for solid oak.”
