slides test for aerobic bacteria and yeasts and moulds (fungi). They have nutrient agar on one side and Malt Extract on the other. They also contain red spot dye which makes it easier to interpret results. These are general use slides and can be used for a large variety of applications. The GNAT MX2 incubator can incubate up to 2 dipslides at a time. It has a pre-set temperature of 30 degrees Celsius and after a short time of stabilisation (15-20 minutes), can be used straightaway. This kit is at a special price that offers the buyer a significant saving over buying the items separately. This kit is convenient and is suitable for those that want to try the slides without buying a large volume. Includes comparison / analysis chart for interpreting results. How to use the bacteria test kit Step 1 : Remove slide Carefully remove the sterile BTM2 dip slide from its tube ensuring that no contact is made with the agar (to avoid contamination). Step 2 : If Surface Testing For surface testing, press the BTM2 dipslide onto the surface. If needed, place a finger on the bottom of the slide (on the plastic, not the agar) to apply extra pressure. Step 2 : If liquid testing For liquid testing, immerse the BTM2 dipslide into the fluid for 10 seconds then remove and allow to drain for a few seconds. Step 2 : If swab testing Apply a sample of the test substance to a sterile swab and gently apply to the agars. Step 3 : Incubate Slide Label the tube with the included stickers then place the slide into an incubator and allow to incubate. Step 4 : Compare results Count the amount of colonies that have grown on the slide and compare them to the comparison chart provided. Reading the results To work out the levels of contamination, simply compare your results to the charts below.
