“Been waiting ages for the refurb & regularly come down to visit family in the half-terms, however it's fairly disappointing + I don't know why they've gone for the dark theme for the pier! Plus it doesn't look like the money has been spent wisely!
Very disappointing the wristbands were taken away and changed for the tokens, understand its to make more money but it makes it harder when you're in a cost of living situation at the moment & makes it more expensive if you have multiple children with you. Rides aren't that great and the new ferris wheel isn't even up & running yet but looks so rusty and old I'll be surprised if it works!
Some member of staff are quite rude and just seem to barge you out the way. Majority of the time you see the staff members just standing around chatting to each other rather than helping customers.
Pier is absolutely freezing cold and when asked a member of staff she turned round and said 'the owner can't afford to have the heating on and has to wait until next year', which is one of the worst excuses I've heard....clearly being tight with monet & just looking at all the £ signs coming in & profit. Not for the customers there! It'll never be as any good as Southend pier or Clacton pier but it's worth a try (Also both a lot cheaper and have a lot more rides on them)
Side note, you've now finally got toilets inside the pier YET you havent got sinks in the toilets for kids to reach! Partners little girl is 4 and she knows washes her hands herself yet can't reach the toilets. Can't quite work out how you didn't think to put a sink in the toilets for kids to reach when predominantly the pier is for the younger crowd! You should be helping to promote hand washing in your facilities especially when the toilets on the hill are absolutely vile plus we've had all the covid and illnesses going round so good hand washing can help that!
Bit disappointed on the prices of the food/drinks as well! Not worth paying the prices in the pier, cheaper to bring your own stuff or get food in the high street bit!
Overall the pier has had a lot of money spent on it which you can see but it's really not very inviting at all! There's no signs on the front saying 'Walton Pier' or anything to invite you in! It's all dark on the front/outside & the entrance doors aren't very clear as to where they are or how you get in. There is a good selection of games and machines which is a positive! Rides aren't great and a bit boring for the kids especially after they've done them a few times! You could see all the blocks of wood and items that have been dumped round the back of the rock climbing which obviously hasn't been finished yet. Just all looks a bit untidy.
The soft play is great and is quite a big size which has plenty of obstacles and slides to go down. Have just built the new baby area which is good for 0-2 year old so they've got a separate bit as well
Also, you still havent updated your fb page even though you regularly post on it! Still says 'temporarily closed'”
