Mead Open Farm Reviews

4.5 Rating 2 Reviews
The farm itself is very good but the admission prices are ridiculously expensive, to have to pay for 2 year olds is shocking especially as they are too young/small to use most of the equipment. We took our 5 grandchildren there today, the eldest (5) has a pass as does my husband but it still cost us £55 to get in. Very disappointed.

Mead Open Farm goes from strength to strength. They keep adding features, and there's enough here for a half-day or a full day with kids of all ages with plenty of variety. Like animals? There are plenty of those, as well as scheduled events to help with feeding and cuddles. Like activity? There's a huge soft play, mini golf, a Sky Trail, a climbing wall, pedal-powered buggies, pillow trampolines, two sand pit areas (one with diggers for those who like JCBs) and a huge playground. The canteens offer decent food (and have started to use compostable plates and cutlery which I really commend them for) but they also provide picnic areas, inside and out, if you want to bring your own food. The whole place is generally well maintained and they run an extended schedule of events during the summer when it gets busier (tractor rides, a sheep grand national, special events at Easter and Christmas as well), but between the soft play and the barns you don't have to spend too much time outside during the winter if you don't want to. It's generally quite quiet during school hours if you have toddlers; although during these times and during the winter some of the outdoor features for older kids are closed. During the summer holidays MOF can get very busy but they appear to manage the extra numbers well and it doesn't get too cramped. Admission is moderately expensive but I think given how much is offered here it is good value for money. My kids have totally different interests, and there is still enough here to cater to the whole family. We usually have trouble leaving!
