“The day out to Chester zoo was amazing, hadn't been in years. Think my daughter was 4 years old. She is now in her late 20's. I didnt manage to see all the sections. So another day will be planned before the winter starts.”
“Lovely ZOO, very big and clean. Plenty of break stops on the way. Photos available by most of encounters and reasonable prices. Will definitely go back as you need at least two days to check out everything without rushing.”
“It's a large site, so lots of walking, but kids (9 and 12) had a great time. Plenty of green areas for stopping for a sit down if required, though if weather had been wetter or hotter more shaded/covered areas would have been appreciated.”
“We were impressed with the quality of the habitats in most cases and the mindful focus on conservation throughout. Amazing to see the wonderful animals in a well designed zoo. Besides the food court mixing up an order (a garden burger rather than a soya burger) I couldn't really fault it.”
“It’s years since we’ve been to Chester zoo and we were really looking forward to visiting with our 2 year old grand daughter. The zoo was sadly lacking in animals to see. The tickets were expensive and we definitely didn’t feel they were value for money. Unfortunately it will be a long time before we go back.
Compare this day out to a visit to the ‘free’ Manchester museum where you could see loads of animals - admittedly stuffed but right there close up and a great variety on show. We will definitely be going back there.”
“5/5 Stars - A Wildly Wonderful Experience!
Visiting this zoo was an unforgettable adventure! The layout is spacious and beautifully maintained, with naturalistic enclosures that clearly prioritize animal welfare. Every exhibit—from the majestic lions to the playful penguins—was thoughtfully designed and educational.
The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and always eager to share fun facts. There were plenty of interactive experiences for kids and adults alike, and the feeding sessions and talks added an extra layer of excitement.
Clean facilities, great food options, and well-placed shaded areas made it a comfortable day out. It’s clear that conservation and education are at the heart of this zoo’s mission. Highly recommend for families, couples, or solo explorers looking for a fun and meaningful outing!”
