“On the plus side once again Dalby have supplied good quality, very dry logs, delivered promptly and thoughtfully, with really great phone based customer service - they're really nice to deal with. My only frustration recently is the increasing variability in log size in a 'standard' cut (not a small/standard mix, so I'd expect logs to be broadly similar size). In the latest batch I recieved logs as small as 0.2kg (virtually kindling in my books) and logs as large as 2.6kg, too big to fit in my stove without splitting. This isn't a case of one or two weird sized logs, whilst around 70-80% were 'medium' the rest were either huge or tiny. More consistency on (medium) size would help a lot!”
Thank you for the review Bridget. I can see you ordered the 25cm Standard Cut logs which is the biggest we do in 25cm. We do have 40cm Thick cut logs however these are only suitable for very large burners. “Excellent quality as logs. It's true what the old rhyme says about ash, it might be a bit more pricey than birch or oak but is the king of firewood, lights easily (at least compared to oak!), burns with a lovely mellow flame and lasts for ages.
The order includes a bulk bag with a tie top to keep the rain out, which is handy if they're to be left outside. The whole bulk bag was filled with prime logs, no chippings or filler and the two chaps who delivered it were friendly and put it in my garage as requested. I'll be staying with Dalby Firewood.”
