“I used confused.com to find a new insurer for my house, as my current insurer wanted to increase my premium by 65%.
The reason stated for this increase was that the number of claims had risen by 50%, and that the cost of claims had risen by 70%.
But what has this to do with me? I haven't made a claim in decades. My house hasn't suddenly moved onto a flood plain, or into an area which has a high level of vandalism or burglary. I could understand a reasonable increase in line with inflation but 65%!
The AA Platinum Home Insurance was not the cheapest but offered more for the money, and, as I am a member of the AA and have been insured with them previously, I did not hesitate to use them this time. The cost of the AA Insurance premium for 2026 is actually cheaper than that of the premium of my current insurer for 2025.”
