The actual policy I chose hasn't deterred me but might others. I however had alternate transport so was not reliant on a quick resolution. While the price was very good something to be aware of. The insurance policy I took when I came to claim ended up being managed by 4 different companies. RAC initially then the hire car element was an additional company, a total loss company then back to the underwriters (Ageaus). I accepted one offer, from the total loss company but then it got referred back to the underwriter and I had to go through that process again and accept a different offer. These were virtually the same. I was happy with the outcome although it did take some time, from what I knew from day one would be a write-off. Towards the end there was a long delay where the underwriter was saying they were waiting for a review from Thier own total loss company. I asked for rough times and was told that it could be any amount of time. Fortunately I haven't had to make a claim for years and don't know if this is standard or just part of going for the cheapest policy.

RAC Online is the motor insurance found for me by Confused.com, costing £298 this year. It starts in a fortnight.
