Very helpful and understanding of my situation.

Ultimately I was contacted by a 'senior' employee who waived all charges for cancellation and arranged a full refund. That was the only 'good' thing about their dealings with me. The following probably tells all which is what I had written to them after getting nowhere by phone. (In short the premium was the 'cheapest' and although there was NOT any 'No claims discount' either claimed by myself or actually allowed as such, apparently their Underwriter required proof of no claims, which was NOT either advised to me at any time before my payment was made and there was no box to 'tick' in the online application for me to confirm that I would be required and be able to provide them with such documentation.) "I intend to contact you by telephone shortly to advise this, but to confirm, please take this as my confirmation of instruction to CANCEL the policy with immediate effect and make a refund of the appropriate amount to the original payment method. As already discussed, because you waited until 14 days after my purchase to advise me of a requirement for me to provide “written proof of your company car No Claims Discount” I find it unreasonable and unacceptable for company to impose the post-14 day cancellation fee of £45 instead of the within 14 days fee of £25. You will note that, although there were no claims made in the last 5 years with me as the driver of a company vehicle, I have not at any stage suggested that I have “company car No Claims Discount”. Also, to confirm, I have been employed, including a company car, by 2 different companies during the past 5 years, which makes it difficult to obtain and provide the required information in the time being allowed. Finally, the online (internet) process is ‘automated’ without a requirement for personal interaction with your staff, for which reason I believe that, for policies that have already been issued on the basis of complete and accurate answers having been given to questions raised in your application process, it’s poor practice to rely on a ‘manual’ checking process after the event."
