How to use Gtechniq GWash W1 Car Shampoo

Shake well before use
Use out of direct sunlight
Add two caps (20ml) for light dirt, or four caps (40ml) for heavy dirt, into an empty 5 gallon (23 litre) wash bucket
Fill bucket with water, for best results use warm water
Always begin washing the upper surfaces of your car and work downwards. We recommend using a Gtechniq Microfibres wash mitt
After use, rinse your car thoroughly with clean water to remove all surfactants.
Store in a cool, dry place
Use within 12 months of opening

Always begin washing the upper surfaces and work your way down, rinsing your wash mitt in a separate bucket of water as you go to release dirt and then replenish your mitt in a second bucket containing your dilution of water and G-Wash. Brake dust is highly abrasive so ideally use another mitt for cleaning your wheels. Ensure that you never press hard to remove dirt (for stubborn dirt, allow to soak for several minutes) and always rinse your car thoroughly to remove all soap residues. Never apply detergents directly to bodywork or your sponge.

GWash is one of those shampoos we’ve come to trust when we’re maintaining coated or well-protected cars but still want meaningful cleaning performance. It’s pH neutral, but unlike some gentler maintenance shampoos, it has enough bite to properly shift road film and everyday grime without feeling weak.

Technically, Gtechniq formulated it to offer high levels of lubrication and controlled dirt release, which is what we notice most in use. The mitt glides well across the surface, foam remains stable in the bucket, and it rinses cleanly without leaving gloss enhancers or masking agents behind. That’s important to us because we want to see exactly how the existing protection is behaving after the wash.

We also like that it’s been designed specifically with ceramic coatings in mind. It cleans effectively but doesn’t interfere with hydrophobic performance, which makes it a very safe choice for coated vehicles.

For us, GWash sits in that sweet spot between gentle maintenance shampoo and deeper-cleaning wash. If we want reliable cleaning, excellent glide, and protection-friendly performance in one product, this is a very solid option.

“The cost will put off many, but if you can afford it, this is, in my opinion, the best car shampoo I've ever used. Works especially well with Gtechniq Serums, Exo or C2V3, but will leave any car gleaming. Doesn't contain wetting agents or gloss additives, it just removes dirt, so all you're left with is a clean paint finish. Spritz the surface with C2V3 after rinsing, dry with a decent waffle cloth and admire the results. Trust me and try it.”

“If you haven't used or heard of Gtechniq produnct then you probably wouldn't opt for this product. They have an excellent reputation. That is why I was eager to try this shampoo. It is a relatively small amoult of product for the cost, but it is quite concentrated, usually 2-3 small caps per wash is enough. It has a delicious smell, and I tried it with 3 caps for my fist wash as the car was covered in dirt and salt from the recent bad weather. With a little stimulation it suds up quite well, but not overly. When I applied it with my lambswool mitt I almost immediately noticed that it felt very smooth as I was washing the car, I later read that it lubricates the dirt, to allow it to roll off easier. I was very pleased witht he end result on the car and found that using the obigatory 2 bucket methon there was still plenty of lucious suds left at the end. I will definately continue to use this until I hear of something to compare with its excellent results”
