Colour Paint Thickness Gauge *New & improved*

Paint Thickness Gauges are commonly used for measuring the thickness of paint, anodising, galvanising, zinc plating, chrome and/or powder coatings. Our Colour Paint Thickness gauge is a sophisticated yet simple to use paint thickness gauge that can enable the user to quickly determine previous repairs that may have been carried out to a vehicles bodywork.

Often paint repairs are not easily or quickly identified when relying just on eyesight and/or fingers. Essential knowledge before committing to paint restoration work or when buying used vehicles!

With a automatically switching, integrated F/NF probe, this gauge works on both non-Ferromagnetic metal bases (e.g aluminium, brass, stainless steel, etc.) as well as non-magentic Ferromagnetic bases (e.g Iron, Nickle etc.)

This is our latest colour paint thickness gauge and offers a few advantages over the regular paint thickness gauge. Featuring a large 160 x 128TFT colour display, it simultaneously displays the current value as well as the Maximum, Minimum and Average values. It also includes a power saving auto off function that switches the gauge off 30 seconds after the last measurement is taken as well as on board memory also stores a running record of the last ten measurements taken.

Really good piece of kit! The average thickness function is a really nice added touch. The colour screen is easy to read and looks VERY professional! Calibration process is a bit tricky but if you follow the steps it's ok

Great little gauge that is essential if you want to machine polish. Comes in a little case for protection. Also has calibration shims. The only thing that gave it 4 stars is the need for it to sit exactly perfect on the surface. If it doesn't then you can get a 0.4-0.5um difference. When flush the average difference is around 0.1 to 0.3um.

This little gauge is a must have if you use a machine polisher, no more guessing how much clear coat you dare remove to get a mirror finish. By measuring in the door jam or inside the engine compartment, then measure the paint on the exterior you get an idea how much clear coat has been applied (there is generally far less clear coating the door jam) I had a problem with the display on my first unit, but this was quickly exchanged. Can't fault the service from Tim and David, a great company to deal with, keep up the good work Geoff

Before using this, I could never tell how far I should go with correcting defects like Random Deep Scratches. Nor could I tell if I was correcting anything at all, especially on VAG or BMW paints. This little device was a gift/investment from my partner, and to be honest, I don't know how I went so long with out it! With it, I have identified vehicles that have previously been resprayed, previously been polished... It has saved me from ruining a car once, with very little clearcoat left (we're talking 10 microns of clearcoat!) which I applied SRP to instead of polishing, thank God. The product itself is easy to use, gives you clear readings of paint thickness in a second, gives you an average reading as you go along, and also records the highest and lowest reading you have taken. In my eyes, those small features go a long way! Trust me when I say it saves a lot of number crunching. It looks professional with the large colour screen, makes it clear enough to show your clients/friends/family. The case also gives the package a professional look too. A 'must have' device for any weekend or dedicated detailer, and handy for buying cars too! The cost of this over a panel respray is near enough equal or half the price!
