Autoglym Super Resin Polish — classic all-in-one gloss enhancement and protection

Autoglym Super Resin Polish (SRP) is one of the most recognised all-in-one car polishes in the UK. Designed to clean, enhance and protect in a single step, SRP combines mild abrasives, gloss-enhancing resins and protective polymers to improve paint clarity while masking fine swirl marks and light surface defects.

Unlike dedicated cutting compounds, SRP is not intended for heavy correction. Instead, it focuses on refining lightly oxidised paint, boosting gloss and visually reducing fine imperfections through a blend of light mechanical cleaning and resin-based filling technology.

All-in-one formulation — clean, polish and protect in one step
Mild abrasives remove light oxidation and surface dullness
Resin technology helps mask fine swirl marks
Gloss enhancement improves colour depth and clarity
Protective layer adds short-to-medium term durability

Where Super Resin Polish fits in a detailing routine

SRP is ideal for routine paint maintenance, dealership preparation and enthusiast detailing where a quick improvement is required without full machine correction. It works particularly well on vehicles with light wash marring or faded gloss that do not require aggressive polishing.

For deeper defect removal, a dedicated machine polishing system may be required before finishing with SRP as a gloss-enhancing final step. But if you already own a polisher, then we've always found Autoglym Super Resin to work really well on soft finishing pad. It makes application faster, more efficient and easier to buff off.

Application

Wash and dry the vehicle thoroughly.
Apply a small amount of Autoglym Super Resin Polish using a foam applicator.
Work evenly across the panel with light pressure.
Allow a light haze to form.
Buff off using a clean microfibre cloth.

Professional Guidance

Apply thinly for easiest removal.
Suitable for hand or dual-action machine use.
Can be topped with a wax for extended durability.
Avoid textured plastics, rubbers and trims. This is frustratingly one of those products that can stain them.

Super Resin Polish remains a dependable option for quick gloss restoration and routine paint maintenance.

Available in 500ml & 1 Litre Bottles

Our Take

“Why we still keep this on the shelf after all these years.”

Super Resin Polish is one of those long-standing products that refuses to disappear — and there’s a reason for that. We’ve seen countless newer polishes come and go, but SRP continues to hold its place because it’s simple, effective, and incredibly forgiving to use.

Technically, it’s a light abrasive polish combined with filling resins and protection. That means it cleans up oxidation and light defects while also visually reducing fine swirls and marring. It’s not a heavy correction product, and we don’t treat it as one, but for refreshing tired paintwork it can make a noticeable difference in very little time.

In terms of finish, we find it leaves a clean, glossy surface with a slight filling effect that helps improve overall clarity. It’s particularly useful on older or lightly marked paint where a full machine correction isn’t necessary or practical.

Protection is modest on its own, so we often see it as a prep step before adding a wax or sealant on top. Used that way, it becomes part of a very easy and effective enhancement routine. For us, SRP is a proper classic — not cutting-edge, but reliable, approachable, and still capable of delivering satisfying results.

Important - for the money autoglym SRP (Super Resin Polish) is in a league of it's own. It is important to use sparingly, out of direct sunlight with good quality microfiber application and buffing cloths. I first used this in the 1990s, applying with an old t shirt and buffing off with an old towel! It does have a slight cutting effect, but not as aggressive as t-cut, so it's good for reducing swirls in the paintwork. Can be buffed off to a final finish or followed up with autoglym own gloss. Either way, a little goes a long way. Use too much and you'll increase your buffing 10 fold and create a tonne of white dust. A true classic for those who want to spend less than an hour on a sunday.

The easiest and most forgiving hand polish. I've trusted this for years. You do get the notorious white dust if you don't work the product properly but that's no problem as you can just dust it off. If anything it encourages you to give your car a quick once over to remove any dust. It's not as bad as some people make out - honestly you can just blow the dust off if you wanted, it's not sticky or unpleasant It leaves a fantastic shine that lasts under the dirt and I'm always impressed at how shiny my car still is after washing it. It doesn't remove nagging paint imperfections but it's a trade off as it's so easy to use and it will bring out a very impressive shine on paint that is already in good condition. It's the jack of all polishes IMO and I've always got some in my kit.
