“Use this style and range of gauge to monitor oil pressure on my motorcycles
The gauges are mechanical so require a small bore line from the engine to the guage. The gauge is small enough to be unobtrusive and easily mounted at a convenient location (I usually use a P Clip)
The liquid fill damps vibration resulting in a steady needle, making it easy to be read at a glance. The air space is deliberate to allow the damping liquid to expand without damaging the gauge
On air cooled engined motorcyles in addition to system pressure, it also gives an indication of engine temperature. A falling pressure, especially at idle is a good indicator that the engine is becoming hot or starting to overheat.
One air cooled motorcycle manufacturer I know of has no low pressure warnings at all not even a light, installed on their engines. In that case I consider the gauge essential
IMHO a very useful addition to install, especially on air cooled engines of any sort.”
