Friendly staff, and car was all sorted via Clarify's booking agency as ordered, including reservation of snow chains. The queue at the airport desk took rather a long time (was a peak Saturday). Staff were not pushy about upgrades or adding insurance, which was a relief. Getting to the car was a bit of a hassle. The shuttle bus system to the car park for all the rental agencies was way overloaded with an insane queue. In the end we decide to walk it with luggage on a trolly, and that was actually only 5 or so minutes, except that then we struggled to find the actual level of the garage where the rental cars operate. Lots of other people were wandering around te parking garage with their trolleys looking a bit lost. Once you figure you need to take the lift down to first level, then OK, but the rental agencies could do a better job giving instructions for those of us who end up walking. Getting the car at the parking was fine except that staff were pushy to get us to leave to free up the parking space. I understand their need, but getting lots of luggage into a car when you can hardly open the doors, then doing the damage checks, then working out how the hell the modern car works (all buttons and computer screens) all take time. I felt we were shoved out of the parking before feeling ready to drive. The car we had was a Renault Captura (what we'd ordered). It had lots of really annoying automatic overrides (lights, steering etc) that kept coming on and couldn't seem to switch off). This isn't really Alamo's fault but I'd hesitate to get that model again. It made the drive out at night a bit of an ordeal. Overall I'd still go Alamo again because the service was otherwise friendly ad no-nonsense, but can't give top rating this time.

All good except it took several days to receive an e mail after the return to tell me all was ok and my deposit would be refunded

Pick up and car was fine. But post rental the company tried to charge me for "refuelling". I knew this charge was unjustified as I had filled the car up at the airport: there is a pump right at the entrance to the car hire. However I disputed this charge with my credit card and the money was refunded.
