“I've been struggling with the standard filter in my fluvial flex 57L tank. Despite weekly water changes the detritus would be quite noticeable throughout the filter sponge and in the pump pickup filter. I suffer with high phosphate tap water too, and trying to fit phosguard chemical filtration and enough biological filtration into the original filter sponge just wasn't working.
The addition of this well designed media basket from InTank means I can load the original filter compartment sponge up with biological filter media in both cut outs, where it's dark which I believe is what the bacteria prefere. The new media basket can now house both a bag of phosguard and a bag of carbon and best of all, I can add some pre filtration sponge in the top in the form of filter floss that is keeping the rest of the filter system massively cleaner. The white floss sponge looks pretty dirty after a day or two, but lifting it out and rinsing it off is a 30second job. It's helping get rid of the detritus quickly and easily before it gets into the rest of the filter system, which must make for a much healthier tank! I'm really happy with the design.
The only thing missing was any instructions. The media basket didn't have any with it, and both the manufacturer and UK dealer had no online instructions that could be referred to. I only found out about blocking off the original tank lower filter holes from review videos on YouTube.
Otherwise a great product, even at the slightly expensive cost. It's very nicely made, fits perfectly without rubbing any of the original compartment silicon sealent, and does exactly what it should. Very happy.”
