“The HeliaLux light units are very solidly made and work very well. Yoiu need the Smart Control otherwise all you have is a standard white light. The colours are numerous and completely editable so you can make you own sunrise/daylight/sunset lighting times and the intensity and colour of those light times. My main gripe is that it operates via wi-fi. The instructions need to explain what is happening and how the unit works: it emits its own type of wi-fi signal and you can connect to your device (phone, tablet etc) without needing to connect to your home wi-fi - at least this is what it seems to be.
But once set up, just enjoy it. The sofware/app is relatively easy to get your head round after a while and you can enjoy designing your own aquarium lighting. A soft red glow in the evening is wonderful as is a moody blue at night!
A huge step up from the standard light units which are either on or off. Recommended but just be patient with set up.”
