Dear Jane, Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. The Petiquette collars are made with a Nappa leather which is very soft and supple, and to give the collars more strength and to prevent the Nappa leather from stretching, the collar have a core of a slightly heavier leather. New collars will be more stiff but the leather softens very quickly as it is used, becoming buttery soft after a while.
