Stop leaves blocking drain with this downpipe leaf filter The Leaf Separator does what it says on the tin, simply and efficiently separates and then ejects leaves from the water passing down the downpipe. No more cleaning blocked downpipes! The Leaf Separator discharges leaves from the front while allowing rainwater to pass into the downpipe as usual. This Scandinavian designed product is particularly recommended for houses which experience heavy leaf fall. It is manufactured by 3P specifically for 4" UK downpipes (and by using the adaptor also fits smaller downpipes too). It can be a real cost-saver, especially where rainwater is discharged into underground drainage systems or to a soakaway, which would otherwise block over time and need costly refurbishment. “It works fine, (insofar as the water runs through nicely, (as to it's leafwork, I won't know till autumn). Interfacing at the top to Lindab steel 87mm downpipe (by trimming out the supplied rubber gasket), and at the bottom, fitting directly using the supplied reducer (which I trimmed) into a cheap round downpipe water butt diverter. My comments are that it would be a more discreet it were a little slimmer, and secondly, that the bright green cover-flap is very garish. I left the rather nasty cover-flap off entirely. I'd have fitted the part if it were grey like the rest, this is a silly choice of green plastic where it could look better for zero effort by the manufacturer. Running the thing without the flap seems to work fine, - maybe it stops some splashes but not that I have noticed. I fitted two. We have nearby conker trees which drop enormous blocking-up leaves so I am hoping that this year I won't need to dismantle every downpipe during the height of the first autumn storm.”

“Works well for leaves, but perhaps smaller fragments will get through the grid. I have added another, finer, mesh to help this. I was wondering what the green flap is for because the product details do not explain. It turns out it is for snow - it does come from Sweden!”

“Great item, is doing its job preventing my drainage getting blocked by leaves. One thing, this is not designed for UK guttering systems, it is nearly impossible to get fittings to fit the outlet nicely. I had some old size fittings lying around that I was able to bodge. Good product could do with adapters for the UK market.”

“Not made of upvc so solvent glue wont work. Adapting to uk pipe sizes is not straightforward. But the unit seems well made and works well. It is a bit expensive for what it is”

“Living in a bungalow the gutters seem to collect a lot more leaves and rubbish than on a two storey house. The mesh filters at the top of the fall pipe continually block and gutters overflow. The filter was easy to install and allows the junk to be removed at ground level. Very pleased and will shortly be ordering four more to deal with the rest of the fall pipes.”
