The Leaf Catcher from 3P Technik is excellent at separating out leaves and moss clumps from the rainwater going to the down-pipe, collecting the debris in its small basket. It is very able at preventing gulleys from being blocked and fouled by downpipe debris such as twigs, leaves and moss. This is not a formal filter for rainwater harvesting systems, however. If a filter is required instead, or in conjunction, then do have a look at the superb 3P Filter Collector with Universal Link Kit or the 3P Rainus Filter. This device is popular where customers wish to screen out twigs, moss and leaves, without them falling to the floor, or passing on down the down-pipe where they might block up the receiving gulley pot, or, worse still, block up underground pipework. “Been fitted for a year now, the white finish has not discoloured, been absolutely bulletproof at what it’s designed for and just so easy to clean out moss and leaves that are washed into it, whilst still allowing large volumes of water to pass through. So good just ordering another one”

“it is bulky and not as slick as some alternatives but it is reliable, it holds the filtered material (so it requires more regular maintenance but that's what I wanted instead of having dirt on the patio/paths..) and it is way cheaper that some other alternatives. Overall I am happy with the article would buy again.”

“Much better idea than a basket at the top, avoids keeping all the leaves in the gutter where they will eventually block and overflow? Seems to work well. 4 stars because I'd have preferred a finer mesh or maybe an optional insert to catch birch and lime seeds which are generated profusely and a lot get on the roof and into gutters because they are light and carried with the wind. Also a bit loose when using the adapter for small pipes although I suppose I could stick a screw or some sealant in. But great idea and does the job”

“Due to the large catchment roof area connected to the single drainpipe, moss, leaves, etc would collect during a torrential downpour and block the flow to the drain. Since fitting the leaf catcher filter there have been no recurrences of this. There have been several thunderstorms with heavy rain during the past few weeks and it has been fine. It is easy to check the filter for debris and remove it when required. A simple but effective device. Should have fitted it years ago!”
