The Rainus works uniquely, in the opposite way to most downpipe filters, ejecting the leaves and dirt from the front of the unit whilst clean filtered water continues down the down-pipe. It has been a proven winner with customers who have had problems with blocked gulleypots, underground pipework or soakaways. It is ideal for retro-fitting to properties where there is currently no filter in place, before existing below-ground tanks (this is a professional filter, and is sufficient for protecting the rainwater quality even in an underground rainwater tank) and drainage systems where it would not be practical to install a below ground filter. “Looking for a solution to gutters getting blocked and wanting to reduce my ladder climbing to clear them, I found the Rainus Downpipe Filter. Fitting to standard UK plastic 68mm downpipe was easy, though the amount needing to be cut out was more than stated in fitting instructions (cut out 49cm after using an old off-cut to work it out!). After waiting almost a month for a decent down pour (!) the filter has proven effective at filtering out the gutter moss and grit debris. As the downpipe drains to a soak-away this should ensure the water is debris free. Cleaning the filter and 'baffles' is easy and the wire mesh filter seems to be catching the fine grit that was always mixed in with the buildup in the gutter. No more humping ladders around or working at height - I'm happy with that!”
