The Yuletide Camellia is a live evergreen festive outdoor flowering shrub that produces glossy leathery green leaves with slightly ruffled reflexed crimson red petals around a golden stamen. As its name suggests this lovely Camellia blooms from November to February adding colour outdoors during the colder Winter months. These pretty flowers can also be used as cut flowers allowing you to enjoy them in your home and garden.
PLANT GIFT – This hardy flowering plant, comes planted in a 15cm terracotta plant pot topped with moss making it an excellent garden gift for plant and garden lovers at Christmas. An optional gift message can be added to complete this perfect gardening gift. We cannot guarantee this plant will arrive in bloom as it depends on individual plant growth and climate. GROWING – Camellias prefer partial or dappled shade in particular morning sun or afternoon shade. They can tolerate more sun as they mature. Avoid growing camellias in South or East facing positions, as the early morning sun can damage the flowers. Camellias should be planted in a sheltered location in acid soil away from cold winds. Exposed, windy positions can damage the leaves and flowers.
ONGOING CARE – Camellias like ample moisture and should be watered with rainwater to maintain the compost’s acidic pH. The soil should be kept moist but not saturated. Insufficient moisture can lead to premature or excessive bud drop. Keep well watered through the Summer, as this is when the plants produce next year’s flower buds.
