Echinops Ritro is a robust, upright herbaceous perennial, that produces jaggedy-divided, prickly dark green leaves during the Spring to Autumn. From early to midsummer lovely globe shaped heads form, covered in masses of violet-blue thistle like flowers above silvery, leafy stems.
Echinops are loved by a variety of pollinating insects such as bees, butterflies and moths. This plant has received the RHS Plants for Pollinators seal of approval.
