The Fieldcraft for Cadets Handbook is a general fieldcraft training guide for all cadets and instructors including army cadets, air cadets and sea cadets. Designed as an informative reference source to back up and enhance cadet fieldcraft training within cadet organisations and units. Written by an experienced CFAV and professional author, this fieldcraft book is broken down into short, simple to understand chapters that flow in a logical and easy to comprehend sequence. The fieldcraft handbook begins with instructions on packing essential equipment and progresses right through to conducting deliberate attacks on an enemy. For cadet forces that do not use weapons in the field, the first five chapters have been specifically written for those organisations not relying on the use of weapons in fieldcraft training. Chapters include: Preparation to move (incl. kit, weather, camo & concealment, final checks)Move out (incl. movement type, signals, patrolling, tactical formations, defense)Rest up (incl. patrol harbours, shelter, food and cooking, harbour routine)Watch out (incl. observation, judging distance, range cards, duties of a sentry)Get stealthy (incl. night training, keeping direction, selecting routes, recce patrols)Indication of targets (incl. fire control orders, immediate action, fire & movement)The attack (incl. fighting patrols, attack & ambushes, adv. field signals, missions)This handbook does not attempt to replace the official manuals, but is instead a handy comprehensive reference. It combines information from multiple sources into a single guide that can be taken anywhere. Designed to be taken home between parade nights enabling cadets and instructors to learn and plan while away from the unit environment. Fits easily into a smock or combat trouser pocket. Printed in full colour and features clear and newly produced photos, illustrations and data divided into 7 clearly defined chapters. Size: A5 (76 pages). Weight: 188g.

Very good expedition manual for cadets to use. Broken down into easy-to-read sections too.

Very happy with my purchase and it will be very good for the cadets when the lock down is finished. I have recommended it to other instructors

The many photographs and the clear text make this book very useful for cadets and staff alike. Rather expensive - postage should be included at the price.

Brings all of the APC syllabus into a fantastic tactical aide memoir for cadets and adults alike. It made more sense to me than years of fieldcraft weekends. A good way to refresh your memory prior to deploying to the field.

This book has everything a young cadet, junior instructor or CFAV could want, covering fieldcraft. It has come out just in time for the revision of fieldcraft subjects and planning, ready for local FTX (post Covid-19). The pages are well designed, with good quality photos and information easily readable and understood. When used in conjunction with the videos on YouTube, they provide virtual lessons on the preparation for life on the field. I would highly recommend this book to fellow instructors and cadets, and look forward to future releases from cadet books. DC, Somerset ACF
