As others say- "They need no breaking in!" Comfortable straight from the box! My problems begin with the way these boots draw the sweat from your feet! After wearing them just around town- when I took them off to polish them and put my hand inside- it was WET! THEN we have the very thin heel and sole which might last the year out if continual use is not required but I'd certainly not rely on them for 6 months in a foreign country hiking- 3months maybe The British Army Assault boots look like they have a more reliable sole (even they may make your feet sweat though- as they aren't the traditional 'goretex' I like the feel of these boots and the support they give- I'd just prefer the choice of a goretex upper that would allow my feet to breathe AND a much thicker sole that could be relied upon for 12 mths plus in any environment It seems, just like in car manufacture, boots are not meant to last either. These would be excellent for short hikes/missions.

Love them so much! When you nikwax them, get them worn in (they don't need traditional breaking in like ww2 hobnail boots, standing in a bath for 2 hours to soften them!) they are same as Altbergs but cheaper by 110 quid! You won't regret buying these boots, Cadet Direct are excellent Co. to deal with.

I had a pair a of boots that got completely soaked (I’m talking wet constantly used work boots, they began to humding a fair bit) while on a job and had another couple of week long jobs coming up back to back; I chose these boots as they were (once polished and coated) more or less completely waterproof and durable. The delivery times and customer service was the best I’ve seen, the delivery date initially said a couple of days but then showed it they would not reach me for about five days, (after the start of the two upcoming jobs), so I called in and the lady that picked up was so helpful, I’d explained my urgency for she’s gone to check the availability and had the boots set out and they were with me within 24 hours. The quality or the boots has held up for both those jobs perfectly. People should take into account boot socks thickness and remember the leathers need time to soften and stretch and break in to avoid buying a boot to small. During those two weeks the boots were comfortable (I’m on my feet for 13/15hour shifts in these boots) very little if any foot ache when being stood up that long, no blisters up until the last day on my little toe, (not putting it down to the boots just the fact I’d been in them almost two weeks straight with very little down time to rest and air them out, but this was easily solved by some lint and zinc oxide tape). Overall, (finally) these are easily one of the best pairs of boots you can currently buy and if looked after properly will last a long time, along with the help and delivery time it was the best boot purchase I’ve made. I would 100% recommend these as value for money and I’ve had many boots over the last 13/14 years from magnums to para boots and have seen my fair share of boot failures.

I've had these boots for over a month and have walked in them almost every day in woodland and on tracks. I've found that they fit fine to normal shoe size, they are very comfortable, waterproof and do not feel heavy. I was very impressed with the delivery time from ordering and having previously made an enquiry about another boot, which was answered very quickly, I would happily recommend this company and its products.

Well I was sceptical about these boots because they're affordable. Being ex British army and only ever worn lowa boots I didn't hold out much hope for these . I was wrong - they're great boots - lowa boots quality but for when I go metal detecting they're perfect boots for the price . Buy them you won't be disappointed .

These boots took about 2 weeks to break in and are now good and serviceable not the most flexible but for the price great for working in. Take polishing well, and should last well.

The boots are great within a budget if you don't want to pay stupid prices for work. They fit comfortably and are hard wearing, highly recommended for anyone in the public services.
