“I bought the Packington in Black and Tan just knowing very well this is going to be unavailable once stock runs out as Billingham has stopped its production. This older model of Billingham current portfolio really are the original of the design philosophy of big carry-alls. The Packington is to me probably the best design for SLR and modern gripped mirrorless with a few lenses and flash. It comes with built-in side pouches by the sides whereas you have to buy avea bags on the newer models. The front pockets are closed with zippers which means if you travel, your valuables are going to stay intact. There are also large enough to hold many accessories from flashes to snoots or modern flash gels and magnetic attachments. This bag is not as wide as the 5 and 7 series and if you are going to carry two bodies, then those are better suited. But if you carrying one full-frame and one apsc body, then this is one of the best bag on the planet. It also has a zipper top and flap that rain-shields it. The strap is thick and long, longer than the Eventer, for whatever reason I cannot understand. The Eventer's strap is too short for me but the function of that is difference in that it is more formal in presentation. The Packington without a floor board relies on the padded insert like the Hadley's. So it hugs your body unlike the 7 and 5 series or the Eventer. I prefer the Packington in Canvas for this reason as the material is soft and a real pleasure to touch. I also prefer the black canvas as from experience, it withstands dirt much better and will last forever if you do not abuse the material. Rightly so, Billingham makes all Packington in Canvas only! As a long time (30 years) collector of Billingham, I am better off with one Packington in my collection which pretty much covers all models of the camera bags from the company. If you can wait, you will see the value of Packington going up in the next decade on.”
