About Billingham:

Billingham are a family owned company, manufacturing camera bags for the world’s photographers since 1973 alongside a range of leisure and laptop bags. All bags are made in the West Midlands area of England, a region famous for manufacturing. A core reason for Billingham’s longevity is the fact that from the start, the Billingham family were determined that their products would always be made to the very highest standards from the best available materials to provide high levels of protection for their valued contents.

A notable feature of Billingham camera bags is that they are made from a distincive 3-layer waterpoof canvas that never needs reproofing. They also feature genuine top grain leather and solid brass details.

Like any premium product, the quality of materials, design and craftsmanship that goes into creating a Billingham means that it represents a significant investment. It’s important that they don’t just look beautiful, but that they do their job of protecting equipment wherever they are and whatever they’re being used for – year in and year out.

25 Rucksack for Nikon Z9 : Almost perfect I own several other Billingham bags and some other brands too. I wanted a smallish bag to take my Nikon Z9 out on shoots, something to take the camera with a 70-200mm lens attached plus a few extra bits and bobs, to protect the camera on car journeys and out in the field. I spent some time researching the options and chose the Billingham 25. I am so glad I did. It is a perfect fit for the Z9 with a FTZII adapter plus a 70-200mm lens, with plenty of additional space for a couple of smaller lenses and/or a second body. The bag is beautifully made with very thick padding and offers excellent protection. The zip covers are smart, and the larger one can be folded back when not required for weather protection which makes the bag quicker to open. The wide shoulder straps make this bag very comfortable to carry for extended periods. Minus one star because of the carry handle at the top. When the bag is loaded, the handle isn’t over the centre of gravity, the bag doesn’t hang vertically and is less comfortable. Shift this handle out to the centre of gravity and it would make an enormous difference. Almost perfect and by far the best bag on the market for my purposes.

A well sized backpack that takes a decent sized SLR and several lenses. With the optional (also pricey) pockets it is an ideal hiking companion

I am a huge Billingham fan and currently own two Hadley Pros, two Hadley Digitals, a Hadley Large and an older over night bag. I have also owned a couple of Packingtons, a 335, 445, a 555 and a 550. All beautiful bags but my favourites for shooting from are the Hadleys. The 25 Rucksack is also a beautiful bag, extremely well made and in the sage/chocolate that I bought is elegant in an understated way. From a usability point of view though, I found it very disappointing. It is not particularly comfortable as a back pack and due to the very thick padding the interior volume seems rather small for the exterior volume. There isn’t really much choice in terms of interior layout - with the supplied dividers and curved shape you are pretty much stuck with minor variations on the layout illustrated here. No doubt this design works for some, but not for me. I returned it the day after I received it.

One cannot fault the construction and quality of this bag. However, one reviewer did note the lack of easily accessed compartments for the normal items which you need to carry; reading glasses, small notebook/pen, handphone, business cards, etc. You can use the attachable side pockets. But attaching these side pockets ruin the look of the bag in my opinion. The front zip pocket would be an ideal place for several elastic pockets to accommodate these items. This would make this a perfect bag in my opinion. John

This is a well made bag and looks Fab and if you have a big camera body and huge lenses this is for you, but i have a Canon mirrorless body with lenses, flash, Dji Mav Air drone, controller ect ect and look lost in there, the biggest problem in my opinion is the dividers are not as good quality as some! plus the lack of them to, you can buy extras from Billingham but this adds to the cost of an already expensive bag. Sorry Billingham but this one is going back.

Hi David, Thanks for your feedback on the bag - I'm glad that you liked the overall quality of the Rucksack. We're sorry however to hear that you aren't so keen on the size. The bag certainly was designed on the assumption most people would carrying DSLRs in it. For example a Canon 5D (without battery grip) with 70-200mm lens would be a great fit. Smaller mirrorless cameras of course might be a little loose. Also sorry to hear about the dividers - we'll certainly take that on board when considering future product updates or new products we might make in future! Could you perhaps email some photos to help@billingham.co.uk of how your gear looks in the bag so we can look at what we might need to do differently? Regards, Billingham Team

I have received the item exactly as described. I commend the speedy processing and delivery process. I am also loving the bag quite a bit, especially the texture of the canvas and the overall quality. I did, however, note a few loose threads, and a small part of the shoulder harness stitching showed what seems to be premature fraying. It will never affect the integrity of the harness and I am confident it will not undo the stitching. The brass feet also don't seem to be that "balanced", such that the rucksack is a bit prone to tip over to the front. Lastly, while the zippers are excellent, the main compartment zippers do tend to snag on the drawstring for the cowling. However, all these things are very, very minor and will not detract from my enjoyment of this quality bag. Great job guys
