As you’ve noticed, vinyl can highlight any unevenness in the subfloor underneath. For the best finish, vinyl should always be fitted to a hard, smooth and level surface. Where existing tiles are uneven, it’s usually recommended that they are either removed or smoothed over using a suitable self-levelling compound before installation. This helps achieve the smoothest possible result.
