The Boiler Buoy has been designed to be installed in the 21.5 mm solvent weld overflow pipe during installation, emergency call out or whilst performing an annual service visit. Freezing of the condensate discharge pipe causes most condensing boilers to lock out leaving the property without heating and in some cases could cause expensive boiler damage. The Boiler Buoy contains a RED float which, when showing, signals a blockage in the boiler condensate discharge pipe. The Boiler Buoy is designed to fit vertically in-line within the condensate pipe and has a built in tap to allow the condensate to be drained away safely by either an engineer or the property owner. The BB-1 kit consists of the Boiler Buoy and a 1.5 m length of 9.5 mm i.d. hose.Space needed to fit into the pipework is only 120mm.

“I thought the small floating red ball would - cause a seal to prevent back flow of water too; unfortunately it doesn’t. So if your condensate connects directly to an overflow it doesn’t stop liquids from back flowing into boiler.”

“Just purchase a solution that causes combination boilers condensation external pipe to freeze when the cold weather drops below freezing point. There all sorts of solution to fix it example by poring boiling water on external pipe, lagging the pipe but still freezes pipe after. I purchased “Boiler Bouy” from this company BES Ltd that fixes the problem by fitting a “Boiler Bouy” bypass tap on the condensation pipe next to the boiler this prevents the water from freezing in the pipes indoors. and if the pipe freezes out doors the “Boiler Bouy” will warn you by a RED ball showing on the by pass tap allowing you to drain condensation water into a water carrier next to the boiler until the pipes defrost. Would recommend this company and comes with easy fitting instructions.”
