“Napoleon Rogue PRO 425 Stainless Steel Gas BBQ – Review
I have to start with the biggest issue: the assembly instructions are completely unacceptable.
The manual tries to cover multiple Rogue models at once, which makes it confusing and, in parts, simply wrong. For example, the door hinges are illustrated incorrectly, the mounting for the grease drip tray is missing, and the ignition for the side burner does not work as described. The wiring also seems questionable in its layout—while it’s only battery-powered, it still doesn’t inspire confidence.
The whole assembly process was frustrating. The screws are a mess—poorly organized and not clearly explained. At one point, they even include a separate tool just for four screws, which makes no sense. I ended up spending two full afternoons trying to follow the manual, only to realize it was misleading. In the end, I had to rely on a YouTube video (not even a professional one) and some trial and error to get it done.
For context: I’m an engineer, so I’m not unfamiliar with technical setups—but this was one of the worst assembly experiences I’ve ever had. I even have a leftover part and no clear idea where it belongs.
Other issues:
The gas hose provided is far too long.
The cover/protection where the gas connects to the grill seems insufficient—it gets hot, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it melts over time.
The plastic wheels are completely undersized for a grill of this weight.
The gas bottle holder is also made of very basic plastic, which feels cheap and out of place.
Too many plastic components overall for a grill in this price range.
To be clear: the grill looks great once assembled, and that’s a plus. But the entire delivery and assembly experience is so poor that it seriously takes away the enjoyment—even before you start grilling.
I strongly feel that either Napoleon or the retailer should clearly point customers to proper assembly videos, or—better yet—completely redesign the manual. After decades of companies like IKEA setting the standard, this level of documentation is simply not acceptable.”
