“Found the description for the thermometer very lacking as I thought this would monitor the temp as well as the other probe. Should not have bought as the option on the app asks whether you want to use the probe OR the BBQ temp, this will not be used unfortunately.”

I am sorry you are having problems with your probe. Can I confirm you are using it with an iGrill?
The probe, when plugged into an iGrill, allows you to measure the current temperature of either the meat it is placed into or the grill temperature.
