“A big selling point for me was how this mirror is battery powered. However, even though the LED lights are quite bright, they’re behind the mirror's backing - not the glass part of the rim. This means most of the light is behind the mirror, going out to the sides, and doesn’t come forward, so it’s nowhere near bright enough for something like applying makeup (which is what I wanted it for). I’m disappointed and thinking of returning it. I read other reviews before buying, including one that said it lit the user’s face well, but I now see there are others saying that the light is too dim.
(Note that there are no sides at the back of the mirror, so if you view it side-on, you’ll get the light shining at you directly. For me, this wouldn’t be an issue, given where I was planning to hang it, but it might be for others.)”
