“The radiator is not fitted yet and we chose it cos it looks great has good output and did not need feet .
However the support brackets need a total rethink / redesign . They are not sturdy enough unless they are fixed into and bear onto a solid substrate eg strong brick inner wall and they do not extend out sufficiently. There is no real technical advice on appropriate fixing details for the substrate in relation to fixing it to a wall given the weight of the radiator empty is 50kg and full it will be 100kg. The back core will almost certainly end up almost touching the plasterboard . I am fitting to a Thermalite block wall , the most common inner leaf substrate in house building . I would not fix these brackets to a Thermalite block wall without a “pattresse” to spread the load fixed using Corfix special fixings . Do not bear the bracket into onto plasterboard because the board will likely crush under the weight bearing from the bracket even with dabs immediately behind the board . I’m using a cement board on top of tye pattresse to bring it on line with the face of plasterboard each side . The risk of the radiator coming loose if not fixed professionally with these small brackets is high in my view and they carry a lot of weight . The brackets should have double arms , have bigger spreader plates to spread the load and extend outwards further to cater for dot a d dab void and most importantly need to come with much better detailed advice on substrate and fixing to purchasers . The radiator itself looks fab but the manufacturers have a safety responsibility in relation to its support on any wall and the design of the bracket as the critical support mechanism . I’ve compared competing similar designs and they are far more substantive brackets .”
