Todo Brasa Holm Oak Charcoal, 15kg, Hard Wood for Wood-Fired Oven Cooking Reviews

4.8 Rating 6 Reviews
Read Basco Fine Foods Reviews

The Holm Oak tree (Quercus Ilex) is a hard, dense and aromatic hardwood, highly regarded for its long burn characteristic and authentic use in wood-fired oven cooking. This charcoal is made from holm oak wood sourced from controlled felling and thinning of Spanish forests and hills. Its long burn profile and sweet aromatics of woodland, black pepper, and cinnamon with an intense caramel undertone make it ideal for enhancing the flavor of food. The best sign of good charcoal is when you feel like using it again. This charcoal is produced in an area with the highest density of holm oak trees in the world, ensuring balanced cooking. The slow cooling process without using water provides a charcoal of unbeatable quality.

We've bought these bags of charcoal a few times now. It is the best one out there for both regular barbecuing and low temperature smoking. It keeps temperature and lasts longer than others we've tried. It loses one star for being too expensive. The sale price is now more than the regular price used to be a couple years ago. I've tried to find holm oak charcoal elsewhere but Basco seems to be the only supplier.

I’ve been buying Holm oak charcoal for years but my recent regular distributor has been out of stock for a long time so I bought this not knowing if this was going to be the same and I’m pleased to report the quality is just as good!
