Txakoli Aguirrebeko 2025 is a vibrant and characterful Basque white wine, produced in the Muxika vineyards of the Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve within the Bizkaiko Txakolina Designation of Origin. This wine captures the personality of its coastal Basque terroir, with a fresh, aromatic and distinctly Atlantic style. It is made primarily from Hondarrabi Zuri (85%), the traditional grape of Bizkaiko Txakolina, complemented by Riesling (10%) and Hondarrabi Zuri Zerratia (5%). The vineyard is situated at around 200 metres above sea level, with vines trained using a double Guyot trellis system. The winemaking process involves careful green pruning, nutrient control and certified integrated production techniques to maintain healthy, balanced vines. The grapes are harvested by hand before destemming and a cold pre-fermentation maceration. Each variety is vinified separately in stainless-steel tanks at 14°C, followed by careful filtration and blending to preserve the wine's freshness and aromatic character.

This is a slightly diffeent txakoli. I have always been used to txakoli from Getaria. This one is from Bizkaia. It differs in that it contains a small percentage of riesling. It tastes very good but for some people might seem a little less sharp than the Getaria variety. My impression is that the Getaria one also has a slightly fizzier feel to it. All a matter of personal taste in the end.
