Vermouth Lacuesta Rojo Reviews

Read Basco Fine Foods Reviews

THE WINERY Martinez Lacuesta produces Vermut Lacuesta using only its own grapes harvested from several of its Rioja vineyards. The botanicals herbs and aromatic plants cold-macerated in white wine are aged in American oak barrels for 3 years before being blended with a white wine base. The vermouth is then aged for another 3 months in French oak. Careful selection of ingredients has earned Vermut Lacuesta a place among the finest aperitifs in Spain since 1937. TASTING NOTES On the nose it is highly aromatic, evoking the macerated herbs used: vanilla, chamomile, gentian and others. In the mouth it is a perfect balance between bitterness, sweetness and acidity with a long finish. FOOD PAIRING Perfect for mixing classic cocktails but also excellent used as the main ingredient within a Marianito cocktail, where 50ml of Lacuesta Vermut Rojo is mixed with a dash of gin, campari and angostura bitters. 14.9% ABV / 750ml / Contains Sulphites

Siset was a delicious find on a trip to Barcelona in 2016. My wife and I are very particular about our Vermut! Flavours need to be not too dark fruit, not too sweet with a nice medium body. My wife was delighted when she found that Basco Fine Foods was importing the wine. We have since tried some of their wines and have always found them exceptional value for money. Bravo!!

Spicy, complex and intriguing. The jury is still out on its suitability for Negroni so further experimentation is called for. Otherwise it’s good value for money.

The wife and I recently visited Leeds for a night of good food and wine. We ate at "the man behind the curtain" which was, well..... ok...... While enjoying the meal we opted for the upgraded wine package and I found myself taking particular notice of the vermouth that they had soaked with varied fruit. After considerable searching, this is the vermouth in question........ and ......... it's bloody awesome. Only place in the UK I can find it and a snip at the price. Great in a negroni or on its own.
