Fresh Black Summer Truffle - Tuber Aestivum Black Summer truffles, also known as Tuber Aestivum, are a European species with a hazelnut-like aroma. Prized for their gastronomic qualities, they're used in haute cuisine, often as a milder substitute for Périgord black truffles when those aren't available. At Basco, we offer a NEXT WEEK SERVICE for fresh Spanish Black Summer Truffles, from ground to your door. Place your order, and we'll dig it out and deliver it the following week. Our customer services team will contact you with a delivery date. Our truffles come directly from our supplier's cultivation fields, ensuring high-quality production and food safety. We use specially trained dogs to locate the truffles, which are then cleaned and prepared for express delivery. The summer truffle season in Spain runs (Note: Our service guarantees freshness and quality, allowing you to enjoy the distinct flavor and aroma of these culinary delights.)

The initial opening of the truffle box gave out an amazing aroma so we were very excited to have found this, so we put the truffle in the fridge straight away in a sealed container to use later in the day. I made truffle tagliatelle for the family. When I took the truffle out of the container the aroma was basically gone but no problem I will grate into the sauce and shave the last bit over the top. Unfortunately the strong truffle smell and flavour had really diminished and I was disappointed. If anyone can tell me how I can stop this happening please let me know. It’s not cheap trying to find the best product.

Hello Frances, Thank you for your order and your feedback. You're not on your own with your thoughts with summer truffle, as there is a difference from the winter truffles strong and defined truffle aroma that I've detailed below: Summer and winter truffles differ significantly in their price, appearance, aroma, taste, and availability. Summer truffles, also known as Tuber aestivum, are milder and more subtle in aroma, with a hazelnut and forest floor fragrance. Winter truffles, particularly Tuber melanosporum, are known for their intense, earthy, and pungent aroma, often described as reminiscent of garlic, forest floor, nuts, and cocoa. Happy to discuss with you if you're free to speak? miles@bascofinefoods.com Kind regards MIles & Team

I don't buy truffles that often, but do love them from time to time. My normal supplier (not BASCO) has had crazy-high prices throughout most of the past year, and so I'd limited my purchases to special events, such as Christmas, and Wedding Anniversary. Then BASCO emailed me with a VERY good price, for ultra-fresh Black Summer Truffles (Tuber aestivum) - namely £26.40 for 100g. My regular supplier was asking somewhere between £40-£50 for the same quantity. SO ordered 100g from BASCO. They did not arrive immediately, but instead, I got a phone call (yes, from a real Human!!!) saying supplies were short, and would I mind waiting a couple of days until the next shipment. NO PROBLEM! I'd far rather have FRESH supplies, than the bottom of a barrel that had been hanging around. And so, in due course, just a few days later than expected, I got my shipment, of 100g of REALLY fresh black truffles, and also 4 special "salami" style sausages ("FUET"), delivered by DPD, in an enormous box utterly stuffed with ice-bags, that were all still semi-frozen, guaranteeing that the contents were in perfect condition. Today, I made omelettes for breakfast, with shaved truffle. OMG - these was SO good. Some of the best Summer Truffles I've ever tasted, and at an astonishingly good price, not to mention the direct personal contact regarding the slight shipment delays. Easily FIVE stars. Bravo BASCO! [Late Edit PS: I should also mention, I got slightly OVER the weight ordered. Another Star if possible!]

I never got the blessed truffle, I was told conflicting stories and quite frankly my idea of Basco fine foods has taken quite a battering

This was bought as a present and therefore I have never experienced the taste. I was expecting One, yet 3 arrived. What concerned, both myself and the recipient, was the attached note - advising to cook throughly before serving. ??

A little bit underwhelming. I love truffle and although this was not bad, it was far from the best. Needs a little bit of fat to help the flavour come out. Best used in butter or to infuse olive oil.
