Oloroso Aurora Sherry is a wine with a long history in SanlĂșcar de Barrameda, dating back to 1907. It was named after Aurora Ambrosse Lacave, the wife of Pedro Romero and the owner of the bodega after his death in 1911. She was a pioneering female executive in the sherry trade. Unlike other sherries, Aurora Oloroso is fortified at an early stage with wine spirit, which inhibits the growth of flor and gives the wine its characteristic flavor. The Oloroso is then put into the solera system where it ages oxidatively, taking on the dried fruit characteristics of this wine.

I have been searching for an Oloroso similar to that I enjoyed in Seville earlier in the year and this is the one. Not too dry, but redolent of fruit and nuts with a delicious lingering finish. Highly recommended.

Absolutely delicious. I like a nice dry sherry and this is it. Full of flavour with a superb bouquet and paired with Manzanilla olioves......food from the gods.
