Abanico Iberico 1Kg, Iberian Pork Cut, Marbled, Acorn & Herb Flavored, High in Mono-unsaturated Fats, Food Items Reviews

Read Basco Fine Foods Reviews

Abanico Iberico is the outer layer that wraps around Iberico ribs. It's a thin, marbled piece of meat that's perfect for grilling, producing juicy and crispy slices of pork. The name 'Abanico' comes from its fan-like shape, reminiscent of a traditional Spanish hand fan. These indigenous black Iberico pigs roam the dehesa forests of southwest Spain, feeding on herbs, grasses, and acorns. Their diet contributes to the wonderful flavor of the pork, while their exercise helps create the marbling that makes Iberico so special. Abanico has a rich, complex flavor profile, with notes of grasses, herbs, and acorns. It's high in mono-unsaturated fats that melt at low temperatures, making it a healthier option than regular pork. Abanico is best grilled or cooked over low heat to bring out its full flavor.

Absolutely sensational. I don’t really want to write a review because I want it never to go out of stock! But i feel others need to know how amazingly delicious (and cost effective for a crowd) this is.

We did it in the bbq and… there is no words to describe it, across the best ever pork scratching (torreznos we say in Spain) and juicy pork ribs meat.

An absolutely divine piece of Iberico pork cut. It was marinated in the suggested garlic and thyme, on the Barbecue - absolutely delicious! This cut is my favourite and may have even surpassed my love for a beef steak.

I almost didn't want to write a review as I don't want Basco to sell out! An absolute find that I have cooked 4 times in the last month. The taste is like nothing else, the fat renders down on the BBQ becoming crispy and tasty. When you get it you will think it looks fatty, but it is actually incredibly tender. Give it a go!
