Luna Beberide Mencia 2024, 100% Mencia Red Wine from Bierzo Region, Spain Reviews

4.7 Rating 17 Reviews
Read Basco Fine Foods Reviews

This young red wine is made from 100% Mencia grapes, the indigenous Spanish grape that shows all its splendor in the Bierzo region, in North West Spain. The vines from which this wine is made are south-facing and within altitudes of 600 to 750 meters. This high altitude allows grapes to breathe during nighttime and favors natural acidity and freshness in this wine. This wine is fermented in stainless steel deposits and sees no oak. It has a pure fruity character with black forest fruits aromas, floral notes, and mineral touches. The black fruits dominate the palate with a herbaceous touch in the aftertaste. It pairs well with meat dishes, pork or chicken roast, pasta dishes, cured cheeses, or Spanish ham and other Spanish traditional cold cuts.

We have drunk three of the six bottles we ordered and so far have been disappointed. Two have been flavourless and the other has been only slightly better. It looks like it's a wine we can't rely on. Normally we enjoy a Mencia wine, but not this one.

Hi there, Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re sorry to hear that the Mencia isn’t delivering the expected flavour across the bottles you tried. We’ll pass your feedback to the team and take it into consideration for future selections. If you’d like, we can review your order and discuss options (a replacement, redress, or a suggested alternative that better fits your preferences). Warm regards, Team Basco Fine Foods

Very full bodied. We ate a Basque inspired dish full of white beans and Iberico pork tenderloin . The wine wen t very well with it. Ideal Autumn/Winter fare.
