“We were really excited about this purchase. In spite of all the Covid19 warnings splashed over the Basco homepage we got next day delivery that arrived next day. We tried it all out and made the paella from the recipe card supplied. It was a bit of a faff to make but will be easier with practice. The meal was a success and I'm looking forward to making it again. The disappointment for me came when reading the ingredients on the paella stock jar and I saw that MSG is listed. What a shame. This is why I have docked a star from an otherwise glowing review. I used the paella pan in the oven the following evening on some oven chips (now it's in the house it has to pay it's way). I preheated it with the oven and it's such a good weight that the heat retention was really good so the result was really crispy oven chips, and they were really easy to toss part way through. Hopefully this observation won't cause any Spaniards to cry into their beer, I do apologise if it does.”

“My first purchase from Basco fine foods and amongst other items was this hamper set. I have been cooking paella from memory of my Father's recipe for years but missing some authentic ingredients. When our parcel arrived with the saffron, pimento, olive oil.. It bought back so many memories! I used two recipes from the Basco site including for Sofrito and paella, including the chorizo (chicken and pork belly) in our new paellera. The pan is excellent quality and big enough to house 6 generous portions. I didn't need to rotate too often as two hobs heated the pan up adequately. The olive oil included is a good size bottle, the chorizo was delicious and the rice is enough for two large paella. The authentic ingredients made such a difference and took me back to my childhood. Packaged well and responsibly, was great to get a card detailing how everything can be recycled or reused. Delivery was bang on when promised. I'll be making Basco a regular for us and delving into the culinary roots of my heritage. Their site has a whole load of recipies that I can recommend and will be picking some childhood favourites and new ones. Great find, highly recommended ♥”
