Gamba Blanca Wild-Caught Prawns, 70-90 Count, Mediterranean Sea, Frozen Reviews

4.8 Rating 28 Reviews
Read Basco Fine Foods Reviews

Gamba Blanca 70/90 prawns are a delicacy from the Mediterranean Sea. They have a long and well-developed abdomen, which is larger than the head. These wild-caught prawns are known for their delicate but flavoursome taste. They are often cooked on a hot plancha or BBQ, sprinkled with coarse sea salt. Each box contains between 70-90 whole and head-on prawns, individually quick frozen on the boats to ensure their freshness. They are a popular choice among locals, who affirm that they are a taste you shall never forget.

Deliciously sweet gambas! Perfect just fried in olive oil, garlic & rock salt. Needs nothing more except for good company & a glass of something chilled such as AlbariƱo.

Tasted great, suck the heads delicious, however I found it a bit difficult getting the shells off, perhaps I cooked them too long on the plancha, still good flavour

For sheer, sea-sweet, perfection, these are - in my opinion - the best prawns out there. They're not the biggest, it's true, and don't have the cachet of the larger red Denia ones, but they are simply perfect. We grill them on a plancha generously covered in Maldon salt (and then the prawns covered too). We eat them with homemade Allioli and fresh bread. The only problem is that, this time, it only took two of us to eat the whole 1kg! Skip, I think we're going to need a bigger box...
