This is my second order of Pink Squirrels. I have used for Grayling fishing and they proved very successful and became a permanent fixture in the dropper array.Wouldnt be without them now.

As the “Mike” mentioned in the bug description, I wanted to share some insights. I’ve used traditional Driftless Pink Squirrel patterns for years, and they’ve always seemed to work surprisingly well on our local brown and brook trout. It was always a go-to when things weren’t going as planned. It just seemed to catch fish! Our scud-rich streams in the Driftless seem to be calling out to this pattern, and that little pink collar is just enough to grab their attention. I didn’t think you can beat perfection, but I’d been buying flies from Richard for a few years. I’m a fan of barbless bugs and his business model, so I suggested he try them with some tweaks. I sent him a few originals to compare. The first change was obviously barbless, and a more gunmetal (non-bronze) finish to cut down on flash. The second was tungsten, as with traditional beads, the sink rate wasn’t great, and we needed to go big or add split shot to get them down. With the density of tungsten, we could fish smaller, more appropriately sized 16’ and 18’s that had great sink rates, got the bug in the catch zone quicker, and often times enabled us fish them in a little faster water. So, to sum it up, these things catch fish and have caught fish in the Driftless US, Rocky Mountains, the Ozark's and the Smokies. I’ve ordered hundreds of them from Richard and his team, my clients have ordered a bunch, and it’s been a great bug to have in the arsenal. And, my Brit buddy Brian tells me that the Grayling tend to gobble them up as well.

Because of the floods I haven't been fly fishing. However the flies are beautifully tied and I can't wait to use them.
