“Ive just bought this rod having been shown it on guided day on a small river . Very impressive piece of kit that ticks so many boxes, Not too overpowered, not too underpowered and perfect for delicate dry fly presentations, EN and dry dropper as well as the unfashionable upstream nymphing . With the water conditions we have , I've not spent a lot of time with it yet but you can tell a lot of thought has been put into it and it's for UK fishing situations not US . I suspect it will hopefully catch me a lot of good fish . Hats off to Barbless Flies , youve created a winner .”

“I've now been fishing the Pisces One for several months for wild brown trout, grayling, chub and rudd, and I deliberately waited before writing this review. First impressions are one thing; confidence built over many days on the river is something else entirely. Quite simply, this rod has exceeded my expectations. The Pisces One occupies a niche that I don't think many manufacturers have really explored. Most lightweight trout rods are designed to cast first and nymph second. Most dedicated Euro nymphing rods are designed to nymph first and merely tolerate casting a conventional fly line. The Pisces One was designed to do both on a small river. And, in my experience, that's exactly what it does. I spend almost all of my time fishing small streams and intimate rivers where versatility matters far more than absolute casting distance. One pool might call for a delicate dry fly, the next for a lightly weighted upstream nymph, followed by a dry-dropper or a short-range Euro nymph presentation through a riffle or deeper run. This rod moves effortlessly between all of those methods. What impressed me first was how quickly the blank recovers after the forward cast. The tip settles almost immediately, making tuck casts feel natural and allowing much more accurate presentations. There's no sense of the rod continuing to wobble after the cast—everything feels crisp, controlled and incredibly precise. The sensitivity is equally impressive. Whether I'm fishing a New Zealand style wool indicator, a dry-dropper, or tight-line Euro nymphing, I always feel connected to what's happening beneath the surface. Detecting subtle takes becomes easier, yet the rod still cushions very fine tippets beautifully when playing fish. I was particularly surprised by how enjoyable it is for small-stream Euro nymphing. At 9 feet, it's long enough to provide excellent line control and maintain contact with the flies, yet short enough to work comfortably beneath overhanging trees, around bushes and into those awkward little pockets where wild trout so often live. It feels purpose-built for the sort of fishing I increasingly enjoy. Dry-fly fishing is equally satisfying. The rod loads progressively, protects light tippets and presents small flies delicately without feeling overly soft or underpowered. Several thoughtful design details have also become more appreciated the longer I've owned the rod. The down-locking reel seat balances a lightweight reel beautifully, making the outfit feel exceptionally light in the hand over a full day's fishing. The alignment dots make assembling the rod almost effortless, even when you're standing streamside eager to start fishing. The specialist guide arrangement works well with both fine nymphing leaders and conventional fly lines, and the inclusion of two perfectly matched tip sections gives real confidence that the rod has been designed by someone who understands how anglers actually use their equipment...I've found it good to know I've got a matched spare top rod section in the car in case of an unexpected breakage. Perhaps the biggest compliment I can pay it is this: After a few minutes on the river, I stop thinking about the rod altogether. Instead, I'm thinking about currents, trout lies, fly choice and presentation. Good tackle disappears from your consciousness, allowing you to concentrate entirely on the fishing. That's exactly what the Pisces One does. Over the years I've owned and fished many rods from some of the biggest names in fly fishing, many costing considerably more than the Pisces One. This true hybrid rod deserves to be mentioned alongside them without hesitation. Richard has clearly designed this rod from countless hours of practical river fishing rather than from a marketing brief. Every aspect feels purposeful and considered, with the needs of the small-stream angler at its heart. One challenge for any specialist rod sold online is that many anglers won't have the opportunity to cast it before buying. I understand that hesitation—I would probably have felt exactly the same. All I can honestly say is this: The Pisces One turned out to be even better than I expected from reading the specification. If your fishing revolves around small rivers, fine tackle, dry flies, upstream nymphing, dry-dropper techniques and modern Euro nymphing, I believe you'll find it to be one of the most enjoyable and versatile rods you'll own. For me, it has become the rod I instinctively reach for first. And I suspect it'll stay that way for many years to come”
